And considering he was going to cash out this season AGAIN (this would have been his second long term deal, every NBA players dream), it couldn't have come at a worse time. The Achilles is a long injury but you can come all the way back from it...plus he'll have a full year to rehab it.

The more I think about this the better it sounds. It sets them up well salary-wise and in terms of distributing talent of a wide range of ages.

Miller is very tradeable and many of the younger pieces are tradeable as they are fairly cheap and have proven that their potential can be capitalized upon (e.g. Williams, Green, Korver, and Hunter to a lesser extent).
It's kind of weird not being able to rip Billy King nowadays. They seem to be following the Bulls, Blazers, Bobcats strategy of collecting over the course of 4-5 years a clutch of 7-9 players who are mid to high draft picks and 2nd round "surprises". If even half these players achieve their potential, and most are showing signs of exactly this, the Sixers would be a mid/late-playoffs team for several years.
Other than the signing of Iguodala and the hypothetical signing of Brand to reasonable contracts, the only other "danger zone" I forsee would be Dalembert, who is a developmental conundrum, and, unfotunately, probably the key to the teams ability to make the transition from a promising team to a threatening team...

hey matt, that anonymous comment was from August 2007. Korver was traded in December if Im remembering correctly. Im just shocked that he called it almost exactly like it is now. With the exception of Carney/Korver/Hunter. Now that we have Brand we are going to seriously dominate.
